The Lazy Navy Kayak Club is an active kayak club
located in Pawleys
Island, South Carolina.
We have over 60 members, and growing. With a members ranging
in age from the early 20's to early 80's the club invites all age
groups.
The club participates in a
group outing at least once a month. Many outings include
optional social activities either before or after the paddle.
Our regular monthly meeting is the last Wednesday of each
month at a roaming location. We change homes to avoid presenting
to large a burden on any one host.
Notable past paddles include
 | Our first paddle. Against a 25 knot wind
and strong current. This led to the decision to call ourselves
the Lazy Navy and seek to paddle with the current whenever possible. |
 | Trip to Bull Creek aboard Bob and Jan Kohm's 36
foot trawler. The picture of all of the kayaks trailing behind
their boat is unforgettable. |
 | Trip down locks at Lake Moultrie and then down
the Tail Race Canal. |
 | Paddle on Black River and Overnight at Hunting
Lodge |
 | Paddle to "Shell Island" off the coast
at McClellanville. Fantastic Shelling. |
 | 4th of July paddles at Pawleys Island to
watch/participate in the annual Boat parade. |
 | No Octane Regatta in NC - a little more
competition than normal. True to our name we captured most the
last place positions in the boat race. |
 | Sparkleberry Swamp, pristine cypress swamp near
Summerton. No way to paddle with without a guide. |
